Doctor knows best.

Did you know that granola was invented for the so-called "health spa"? Dr. James Caleb Jackson first introduced what he called "granula" at the Jackson Sanitarium in 1863, which was billed to the public as a health spa of the time.

Dr Jackson initially called his health food "granula" partially after Dr Graham's (yep, of graham crackers) flour he used in it. The later breakfast cereal developed by John Harvey Kellogg was named "granola" just to avoid being sued.

So eat up, health nuts! Hopefully I won't see you at the sanitarium!
