Tomato Love

Summer lovin’... in September!

The tomato love I’ve been getting has been kinda insane! I went to Happy Acre Farm last week for a shoot and left with a bazillion beautiful heirlooms... and I’ve been getting gifted even MORE lovely tomatoes by so many my farmer friends, since! So now I need to figure out what to do with them all. My first little foray was this pizetta with cornmeal crust, ricotta, lemon, and fresh basil. Any other suggestions for tomato abundance? (I‘ve got a lot of freezing/canning/sharing with neighbors ahead of me, I am sure!)

All this is abundant tomato love is perfect to my food historian mind because the tomato has long been known as a the “love apple” ... but before even that it was actually feared and known as a wolf peach! This was because of its association with witchcraft and werewolves, since it was in the nightshade family!
