Voyage of Discovery

“The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” - Marcel Proust

I love Proust for his writing on involuntary memory through the Madeline. One bite can indeed spark a whole story just as a picture is worth a thousand words.

This photo is from the @sonyalpha kando trip, and was the result of @guykawasaki telling me to grab and try a new camera. (Thanks, Guy!) In a sense, the photo is simple. But it’s one of those for me that sparks a flood of memories and “how did I get here?”

The coast of California has been my home for over six years now. When I first came here, I was flown out for a job interview to work at @eco.farm to help run their annual conference right at this same spot.

Taking this job in California was a big leap for a Chicago girl. I bought a car (I had just owned a bike and mostly ridden public transit), moved to a little dreamy studio in the redwoods, and took up yoga to help me cope with the loneliness I felt that first year. It’s amazing to reflect and appreciate all the moments that led me to this one.

From my happy place: Happy Friday, everyone!
