Did you know that the idea of resetting clocks forward in the spring and back in the fall belongs to none other than Benjamin Franklin??! In 1784 he published an article in Journal de Paris where he carefully lays his rationale.

My favorite section in his argument is when he lauds “the economy of using sunshine instead of candles”, and when he notes how “people are apt to be obstinately attached to old customs,” so “it will be difficult to induce them to rise before noon.”

And I love the irony that now we are attached to #daylightsavings as the “old custom”! Did anyone see this on the CA ballot today? What did you think?!
